WA: Iraqi on temporary visa in court over assault on woman

An Iraqi man on a temporary protection visa will appear in a Perth court today afterallegedly thrusting a broken bottle or glass into a woman's face in a crowded nightclub.

Police say the 27-year-old man has been charged with intent to cause grievous bodilyharm arising from an incident at the Post Office nightclub in Northbridge on Easter Sunday.

They allege the man thrust a broken bottle or glass into the 40-year-old woman's face,causing deep lacerations.

Detectives have contacted the immigration department over the alleged incident.
