Schenectady A man who said he was looking to get shot by police when he pointed a gun at an officer took a plea bargain on Friday and will get nine years in state prison, officials said.
James Hamilton, 40, pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of a weapon in response to an indictment that had also charged him with third-degree robbery. He is to be formally sentenced on March 5.
In early September, Hamilton went to the YWCA to try to meet his estranged girlfriend. Seeing nobody behind the counter, he took money from a cash drawer, then pushed his way past someone who tried to stop him at the door, …
